One of the best things about hosting a holiday is getting to decorate! For the past few years my sister and I have been hosting thanksgiving at our apartment in Chicago. We used to get together with our whole family but with everyone spread around the country it has ended up being the four of us the past few years. Although we don’t have a real dining room, my sister and I decided to step up our game this year and thanks to the help of World Market it was simple to create an amazing table. Whether you are hosting the real deal or a friends giving with your close friends… decorating is always a good idea!

Some of my essentials for hosting are great smelling candles, pretty plates, nice linen napkins and pretty wine glasses. Our table is small so a simple centerpiece with a festive candle ring and these beautiful wood candles (I’m obsessed) did the trick. Now that our table is ready the only thing left is for my parents to come with all the food…. but actually my parents do bring the food. My sister and I are taking baby steps towards being adults. Maybe next year we will also cook the meal – but probably not… my mom’s food is just too good. If you know her, you know she is the Martha Stewart of the Midwest.

Do you prefer to host holidays or go to a family members house?

NAPKINS | GOLD FLUTE CHARGERS.. similar here |GLITTERED PINECONES – use these for the table now and hang them on your Christmas tree later! | NAPKIN RINGS | CANDLES (Silver/Mercury one here… Wood ones here) | CANDLE RING | PLATES (the thankful ones I picked up at T.J. Maxx last year but there are similar ones here and I also like these and these….the white ones I got as a gift but there are similar here.. you could use any basic white plate as well) | WINE GLASSES (also got as a gift.. similar here) |PLACEMATS

Omg. Can’t wait to sit at that table and drink some wine. Looks so elegant.

You are putting my decorating to shame!! Can’t wait. We will have to change out of our Turkey Trot clothes to eat at that table.
