Top Things to Do, See and Eat in New York

My time in NY has come to an end and being the sentimental person I am I wanted to capture all of the amazing things I got to do during my 6 months working in the city. I got to see a 70 degree day in February followed by 2 terrible snow storms that shut down the city. I ate at a ton of excellent restaurants and was lucky to have great company while I did.

More than anything, New York taught me to appreciate having a work life balance. It is so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind that you forget about all the cool things happening around you. No matter where you are, make sure you take the time to appreciate your surroundings and make yourself explore. I promise you will be so happy you did. Until next time New York. Check out below to see my favorite places, restaurants and experiences from my time in the city for work!

My Favorite Sights in New York:

The Empire State Building

I got to look at this beauty outside my hotel room window every night. You can go up to the top to get incredible views of the city!

Flatiron Building

One of my favorite buildings in NY and probably one of the more iconic places to take a photo. I got the pleasure of doing so in the middle of one of the worst snow storms New York has ever seen.

The Vessel

One of New York’s newest attractions! You can buy a ticket to walk to the top, but I ended up just looking at it from the outside. There is also an awesome mall right across the street!

Lotte Palace

Can I just move in? How gorgeous is this building during the Holidays

Bryant Park

Bryant Park is a really fun place to stroll around. They have a bunch of food vendors and shops to walk around, or you can just grab a seat at one of the tables and do a little people watching or read a book. In the winter they have a huge ice rink in the middle of the park.

New York Public Library

Chelsea Neighborhood:

Chelsea is such a cute neighborhood! This is where I worked and stayed during the week. Make sure to check out the Chelsea Market if you end up in this area!

Time Square

Were you even in New York if you didn’t visit Time Square? While wandering around I got stopped by a random girl who wanted to take her picture with me… I would like to think it’s because she knows about my blog but more likely it’s because I’m a tall girl with blonde hair and she was from Argentina and thought I was a strange-looking human.

Also – fun fact – I celebrated New Years Eve in Time Square in 2006 and let me tell you it’s not the party you see on TV. I repeat IT IS NOT A PARTY, unless the parties you attend don’t let you go to the bathroom and force you to stand in one spot for 12 hours… so yeah five, four, three, two, NO

Oculous Building

The architecture of this building in unreal. Such a cool place to visit if you are in New York

Fulton Market

The perfect place to grab a coffee and stroll through cute boutiques.

Rizolli Bookstore

Famous bookstore in NY where I attended an event on African Fashion and pretended to be super cultured

Go To a Workout Class:

Studio 7 has a hip hop hot yoga class that is amazing! Who wouldn’t get into Yoga with the Weeknd softly playing in the background? I also want to go to the Peloton studio so badly! Definitely doing that on my next trip!

Places To Eat and Drink in NY

Bocarrat’s Bar

One of the fanciest bars I have ever been to. Yes – those are crystals dripping from the ceiling and yes the drinks were $30 a peice…worth it!

Seven’s Bistro (American)

With all the pics of food and drink you should weigh more than you look like you do. What’s your secret?
