Weekend Trip From Chicago to Kohler Wisconsin

Chicago is such an amazing city, but sometimes it’s fun to get out of the hustle and bustle and take a little road trip. For my sisters 30th birthday we decided to head to Kohler Wisconsin for the weekend to check out the American Club.

Kohler is only about a 3 hour drive from Chicago, which is the perfect distance for a weekend getaway! I would recommend it for a girls weekend, anniversary, birthday, self-love trip or literally any occasion. They also have amazing golf courses to play in the summer!

Where We Stayed:

The American Club:

We did the Kohler Girlfriends’ Getaway Package. This included a two nights stay, Kohler Massage service and spa discounts, yoga class, dinner, and an in-room amenity. It was the perfect amount of planned activities with time to explore and do our own thing. Depending on the property that you choose to stay at, this package can be more or less expensive. The American Club is one of the upper level hotels, but it’s a staple in Kohler so we figured we had to stay there at least for one trip!

If you do choose to stay at the American club, make sure to stop into the the Greenhouse for a cup of coffee in the morning, or a sweet treat in the evening. We spent every morning here, enjoying the beautiful building, which was actually brought to the hotel from Chorley, Lancashire in England and back put together piece by piece where it’s currently located!

What We Did:

1. Kohler Design Museum

Right in the middle of the town is the Kohler Design museum. As you may have expected, the town is related to Kohler appliances. I was surprised at how cool this museum was, and how many crazy toilets there are! The whole studio is decked out in their top of the line products laid out in a variety of different styles. This is a must do if you visit Kohler and it’s completely free!

2. Kohler Water Spa

This was the main reason we went to Kohler. The spa is absolutely incredible and we had the best day getting massages, facials (my sister got derma-planing) and sipping champagne. To be considerate I did not take any pictures inside (I don’t think you are technically allowed), but it’s a beautiful and very relaxing space! Take my word for it!

Yoga By the Lake

As part of our package we got to do a Yoga class at a studio located right in the towns little strip mall. It was a great class located right next to a lake, and they have one of the fancy remote controlled toilets in the bathroom so it’s worth going even if it’s just to try the bathroom out hahah.

Dinner at Lino Ristorante Italiano

We had a few places to choose from with our package and we landed on Lino Ristorante Italiano because we love some good pasta! It was close enough to walk to from the resort, but they also have free shuttles to take you there and back! The food was delicious and the wait staff were very attentive. I would definitely go back!

Press Juice

After a weekend on overindulging, we grabbed smoothies at Press Juice on the way out. They had a ton of healthy smoothy and toast options and was in the same area as the Yoga studio.

Overall we had the BEST time and will definitely be going back! They even opened a Kohler spa in Lincoln Park Chicago which we will be trying out as Covid is over! Have you ever been to Kohler? Where is your favorite place to road trip form Chicago?

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO,
