The Perfect 3-Day London Itinerary for First Time Visitors

The Perfect 3-Day London Itinerary for First Time Visitors

The Perfect Weekend in London

My last trip to London struck the perfect balance between exploration and relaxation. What began as a personal visit to see a friend in Manchester quickly turned into a longer adventure with a bit of work mixed in. Since I had a few extra days to enjoy the city, I crafted what turned out to be the perfect weekend in London—a mix of iconic sights, hidden gems, and moments to just soak it all in.

If you’re planning a weekend getaway to London or looking for ideas for how to spend 48 hours in the city, here’s exactly how I’d do it again.

Where We Stayed

If you’re planning a trip to London and searching for a luxury boutique hotel, look no further than The Nomad London. On our recent visit, we stayed at this beautifully designed hotel nestled in the heart of Covent Garden, and it truly exceeded our expectations.

It is part of the Hilton family, which is perfect if you collect Hilton Honors travel points. But even if I didn’t have points, I’d still choose this hotel again in a heartbeat. The building is a stunning blend of historic architecture and modern luxury, offering an atmosphere that feels both elegant and intimate.

One of the highlights of our stay was the complimentary continental breakfast served every morning in the hotel’s glass-roofed atrium. Think buttery pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, and barista-made coffee—all enjoyed in a space flooded with natural light. It was the perfect way to start our day in the city.

Day 1 of the Perfect Weekend in London

Arrival, Afternoon Tea & a West End Show

Once we settled in at the hotel, we made our way to Aqua Shard for a luxurious afternoon tea experience with panoramic views of London. Located on the 31st floor of The Shard, this was a highlight of the trip—the views were absolutely stunning! The tea service was average if I’m being honest, but for me it’s more about ambiance and champagne.

Recommended: Reserve a window table in advance to get the best skyline views of Tower Bridge, the Thames, and beyond.

We wrapped up the first day with tickets to Wicked in the West End at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. This award-winning musical was everything I hoped for. If you’re visiting London for the first time, catching a West End show is an unforgettable part of the experience.

Day 2 of the Perfect Weekend in London

Fall Fashion Finds & Boutique Shopping in London

If you’re visiting London in the fall, you’re in for a treat. The crisp weather, cozy coffee shops, and autumn fashion make it one of the best seasons to explore the city. And if you love shopping, you’ll be in paradise—London is a shopper’s dream year-round, but especially during the fall when new collections drop and vintage finds feel extra special.

Morning: Vintage Shopping at Check It Vintage

We started the day in Shoreditch, exploring independent boutiques and vintage gems. A standout was Check It Vintage, a hidden treasure with a seriously impressive collection of vintage Burberry. From classic trench coats to check scarves, it’s a must-visit for anyone who loves British fashion with character.

📍 Check It Vintage, Brick Lane — Plan to spend at least 30–45 minutes here, especially if you love browsing for unique designer pieces.

Afternoon: Boutique Stop at Odd Muse London

Next up: a personal highlight. I finally made it to Odd Muse—a boutique brand I’ve been following online for ages. Their store is located just off Oxford Street, and while it’s on the smaller side, the experience felt super intimate. Trying on the pieces I’ve had in my cart for months was such a treat!

🛍️ If you’re into timeless, structured pieces with a modern twist, Odd Muse is worth the visit. The quality and fit lived up to the hype. I did end up wearing different sizes from what I had in my cart online, so I’m glad I waited to try them in store!

After the boutiques, we wandered down Regent Street, which is packed with both high-street favorites and flagship stores. Whether you’re in the mood to shop or just window-browse, this area is a must during any London shopping weekend.

Dinner at Dishoom

For dinner, we headed to Dishoom—a must for any foodie visiting London. Inspired by the old Irani cafés of Bombay, Dishoom delivers on every level: atmosphere, service, and especially the food. The black daal and chicken ruby were standouts.

🍽️ Reservations are recommended, but if you don’t mind a short wait, the bar area is lovely for a pre-dinner drink.

We ended the day with drinks at Nightjar—a speakeasy-style bar just off Old Street with a moody, jazz-club vibe. It’s the kind of place that transports you: candlelit tables, live music, and cocktails that look (and taste) like art. A perfect close to a perfect London day.

Day 3 Of the Perfect Weekend in London

Fitness, Food & a Prosecco Finale Along the Thames

Our final day in London blended wellness, indulgence, and a bit of classic sightseeing—the perfect slow Sunday in the city. From a high-energy workout to market eats and riverside wine tasting, this day wrapped up the weekend beautifully.

We kicked off the day strong with a class at Rebel1—a boutique fitness studio known for its high-intensity training and sleek, community-focused vibe. Whether you’re into strength, HIIT, or cycling, this spot is a great pick if you want to stay active while traveling. You can either buy a single class, or use Class Pass.

After class, we made our way to Borough Market—one of the best food markets in London. The mission? A pulled pork sandwich from The Black Pig, one of the market’s local legends. It was everything I hoped for: crispy, rich, packed with flavor, and perfectly messy. Be cognizant of the time you go because they get extremely busy!

Post Lunch Activities:

Post-lunch, we walked off our sandwiches along the Thames Path, passing the iconic London Bridge, the Tower of London, and City Hall. The fall breeze, golden leaves, and riverside views made for a peaceful afternoon with plenty of photo-worthy stops.

Don’t confuse London Bridge with the more ornate Tower Bridge—both are close, and it’s fun to stroll across both if you have time.

To wind down our weekend, we headed to Prosecco House—London’s first and only bar dedicated entirely to prosecco. It’s located near Tower Bridge and offers prosecco flights, still wine, and champagne in a sleek, glass-walled space with a view.

🍾 This is a perfect pre-dinner or early evening spot—chill, classy, and a bit of a hidden gem. I loved being able to sample different Proseccos side by side.

This day truly captured what I love most about weekends in London – balance. A little movement, unforgettable food, historic charm, and a cozy corner to toast the trip. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for more, London always gives you something to fall in love with.

Thanks for following along on my perfect weekend in London! Whether you’re planning your first visit or returning for another adventure, I hope this itinerary gives you a few ideas to make the most of your time in the city.
