Planning a one-week sailing trip in Sardinia? It is one of the best ways to experience the island’s crystal-clear waters, hidden coves, and laid-back coastal towns.

Tips for Planning a Sailing Trip in Sardinia
During our European holiday this year, we spent an unforgettable one week sailing trip in Sardinia and Corsica. One of the most scenic and rewarding sailing routes in the Mediterranean.
We booked through The Moorings, a trusted yacht charter company that my parents had used for a sailing trip in Greece. Once again, they didn’t disappoint.
About a month before the trip, we completed a quick online form to share our preferences for food, drinks, and sailing style. We also watched a few safety videos to prepare, which made boarding the boat feel smooth and stress-free.
- Sardinian wines are truly exceptional – if you enjoy a beverage, I highly recommend adding Sardinian sparkling wine (spumante) and their rich local red wines to your list. The flavors are unique and delicious, offering a perfect complement to fresh seafood and Mediterranean cuisine.
- What surprised me most? The wines felt like a miracle – incredibly smooth with no hangovers the next day! Definitely a highlight for wine lovers on this sailing adventure.

Our crewed catamaran came with an experienced captain and a private chef, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy every moment. It was the perfect balance of comfort, adventure, and personalized service.
From crystal-clear anchorages and hidden coves to charming seaside villages and quiet beaches, every day brought a new discovery. It was truly a sailing holiday we’ll never forget.

Daily Itinerary for a One-Week Sailing Trip in Sardinia
Every morning, our captain, Marchello, would sit down with us to talk through the sailing plan for the day. He took into account the wind conditions, weather, and our preferences, then offered a few options for potential stops. It was the perfect balance of expert guidance and personal choice – we really felt in control of our own adventure.
Throughout the week, we did a mix of anchoring in secluded coves and staying in marinas. Some nights we were docked near charming coastal towns, while others we spent completely off-grid, surrounded by nothing but the sea and stars.
Personally, I loved the nights we spent anchored out on the water the most. It was incredibly peaceful, and waking up to panoramic sea views with no one else around was pure magic – a true highlight of the trip.

Most days followed a wonderfully simple and relaxing routine. Breakfast on deck, a morning swim in crystal-clear water, followed by a leisurely lunch prepared by our onboard chef Georgia. Afternoons were for lounging in the sun, reading, napping, or taking another dip in the sea.

Evening Routine on the Boat
As the sun began to set, we’d enjoy a beautiful dinner. Often this included local wine and fresh seafood – and then do it all over again the next day.
It was the perfect rhythm for a Mediterranean sailing holiday: slow, peaceful, and completely rejuvenating. There’s truly no better way to disconnect and unwind than a week spent drifting between islands! A week with nothing on the schedule but sunshine and sea.

One of our marina nights was spent docked at La Maddalena. This is a charming town in the heart of the La Maddalena Archipelago off the northern coast of Sardinia. It was the perfect place to step off the catamaran, stretch our legs, and explore for a few hours.
The town had a laid-back, local feel – with colorful streets, cozy cafés, and little shops tucked into winding alleys. It was refreshing to be on land for the evening, and we took full advantage by enjoying dinner at a local restaurant, soaking up the atmosphere and people.
After a week of peaceful coves and quiet anchorages, this small taste of Sardinian nightlife added a fun change of pace to our catamaran sailing itinerary.

Bonifacio
Our second-to-last night on the boat was spent in the stunning town of Bonifacio. This quickly became one of my favorite stops of the trip. Perched high atop dramatic limestone cliffs, this hilltop town offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and is packed with charming restaurants, cafés, and boutique shops.
Be warned – getting to the top involves a bit of a hike, so make sure to wear comfortable flat shoes. I saw a few women struggling in heels, so pack accordingly!
Despite the climb, the panoramic views as you approach Bonifacio from the water are absolutely unforgettable. It’s truly one of those magical Mediterranean sailing stops that stays with you long after you leave. Don’t pass on adding this to your one week sailing trip in Sardinia.

Since Bonifacio was our last major stop, on the final day we sailed back to Cannigione, where we had originally boarded the catamaran. Spending one last night in this harbor gave us time to reflect on the incredible week we’d just experienced.
Our crew was absolutely amazing throughout the trip – professional, friendly, and attentive – and we enjoyed one final dinner together onboard. It was a special moment, exchanging stories, laughter, and gratitude for the unforgettable Mediterranean sailing adventure.
This week-long catamaran charter in Sardinia and Corsica was truly a trip to remember, full of stunning scenery, relaxing days at sea, and wonderful company.

One-Week Sailing Trip in Sardinia: Final Thoughts
One thing I wouldn’t feel right not mentioning – especially for those new to sailing on a catamaran or smaller boats – is the bathroom situation. While the bathrooms on board were small but functional, there’s an important rule: you’re not allowed to flush toilet paper down the toilet. Instead, you have to dispose of it in bins provided.
After a week, I can honestly say we were pretty excited to get back to a “normal” bathroom! It’s definitely something to keep in mind if you’re used to land-based comforts.
Aside from that, a quick tip: pack some Bonine or motion sickness medicine, just in case the waves catch you off guard. I really enjoyed having goggles to swim, but regardless of what you might hear, the snorkeling in this area isn’t particularly impressive.
Overall, this was truly a once-in-a-lifetime sailing trip with my amazing family – filled with breathtaking views, unforgettable experiences, and plenty of laughter.
